Community guidelines

These guidelines cover comments and replies on The Edit. Blowtrumpet’s Community Guidelines apply across every property and sit alongside these.

The short version

Disagree with me. Tell me where I’m wrong, and bring the reason. The posts here are opinions I’m still revising, and a good argument in the comments is the point of publishing them.

What’s welcome

Substantive disagreement. Evidence I hadn’t seen. Experience from inside the industry. Questions, including basic ones. Corrections — I’d rather be corrected here than be wrong in public for longer.

What isn’t

Personal attacks, harassment, hate speech or discriminatory remarks. Spam, promotion and link dropping. Impersonation. Sharing anyone’s private information. Abuse directed at other commenters, at people named in a post, or at anyone at Blowtrumpet.

Moderation

Comments are moderated. Anything breaching these guidelines is removed, and persistent breaches mean you are blocked. If your comment is removed and you think that was wrong, write to me and say so — arjun@blowtrumpet.com.

Disclosure

If you have a commercial interest in something being discussed, say so in your comment.
