Privacy policy

The Edit is published by Blowtrumpet Technologies, which is the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here.

1. What this site collects

If you subscribe — your email address, and your name if you give it.

If you comment — the name, email address and comment text you submit, and your IP address.

If you write to us — your message and the contact details in it.

Everyone — basic technical and usage data: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring URL and timestamps.

This is a blog. There is no advertising on it, no advertising cookie, no third-party tracking for advertising purposes, and nothing collected here feeds any advertising system.

2. How we use it

To send you posts if you asked for them; to display and moderate comments; to reply to you; to keep the site working and secure; and to understand which posts people read.

3. Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal data. We share it only with service providers acting under written contract and under our instruction — hosting, email delivery, spam filtering — and with authorities where the law requires.

4. Retention

Subscription data is kept until you unsubscribe. Comments stay published until you ask us to remove them. Technical logs are kept for a limited period for security purposes.

5. Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may access, correct or erase your data, ask for a summary of our processing, nominate another person to exercise your rights, withdraw consent and complain to the Data Protection Board of India. Where GDPR or CCPA applies to you, the corresponding rights apply. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
