Tell me where I am wrong.

This is a personal blog. Most of what is here is argued rather than settled, and the useful response to an argument is a better one.

What is welcome

Disagreement, with the reason attached. The posts here are opinions I am still revising. A good counter-argument is the point of publishing them.

Corrections. If I have a fact wrong, tell me. Corrections are made on the post with a dated note saying what changed. I do not quietly edit published posts.

Experience from inside the industry. Things you know because you have done the work, which I have not.

Letters. If you want to write at length rather than in a comment, write to me. Some of the best responses to posts here have been emails, and with your permission I publish them, under your name.

Guest posts are rare but not impossible. Pitch the argument rather than the topic.

What I will not do

Publish anything you send without asking you first. Quote you by name without your consent. Pass your message to the company’s commercial teams. Or hold a disagreement against you — including in a hiring process, which is a thing people reasonably worry about.

Two things to know before you write

If I invite the work — a guest post, a published letter, a commissioned piece — we agree the terms in writing first: credit, ownership, and payment where it is work.

Anything else is unsolicited. Comments and correspondence that are simply discussion of a post are just that — conversation, and that is why the comments are open. But business and product ideas sent here reach a company that builds in this space, and they are covered by the Unsolicited Idea Submission Policy.

That policy exists because I would rather tell you plainly what happens to an idea sent to me than let you assume something else. The licence it describes is non-exclusive — your idea stays yours. And if you have something you consider valuable and confidential, say so before you send it: legal@blowtrumpet.com.
